CarKraft Experience

CarKraft Experience is a day for young drivers (17-24 yrs) who live in Northamptonshire which aims to address the main causation factors involved in collisions involving this age group. It is designed to be both educational and enjoyable at the same time. Since its conception in 2002, hundreds of young drivers have attended the day and places on the course are extremely sought after.

 

CarKraft Experience is funded by the Northamptonshire Casualty Reduction Partnership with each event costing around £12,000. The day itself is run by Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire County Council with assistance from advanced driving instructors who provide the expertise during the skills sessions. Around 40 FREE places are available for each Experience day.

 

During 2009 CarKraft Experience underwent a makeover. We have combined the two indoor workshops into one improved session which is more interactive for guests. Our skid control and ABS control sessions remain the same however we have introduced a new session for this year. Each participant will have the chance to drive one of a fleet of vehicles kindly provided by Renault UK and insured by Adrian Flux accompanied by a Grade 1 Police Response Driver who will assess the participants driving and offer suggestions and observations on how it can be improved. Starting at the circuit the predetermined route will include rural, A-road and motorway driving.

CarKraft Experience is held at Silverstone Circuit and involves 4 different sessions. 

CarKraft Experience days are advertised in the local media. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis and can only be applied for once the date of the next course is advertised.

 

To be able to apply for a place on CarKraft Experience you must be aged 17 to 24 years, hold a full UK driving licence, be a resident of Northamptonshire and have not attended a CarKraft Experience before.

If you would like to apply for a place at the next event you can send your name and address NOW to roadsafety@northamptonshire.gov.uk with the subject CarKraft Experience and you will be sent an application form approximately 2 months before the event. Dates for 2010 have yet to be agreed.
