Roads are part of our public space and everyday life. Policing of the roads is therefore an important and visible element in our commitment to protect the public, maintain safe communities and strengthen civil society. We are committed to tackling anti-social behaviour on our roads through proactive policing. Working with our partners and as one of our Local Policing Plan priorities we aim to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on the County's roads to no more than 467 in the 2006 calendar year, and in line with government targets.
