Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance
The people of Northamptonshire and neighbouring Warwickshire can be proud of the fact that the county boasts the UK's leading Air Ambulance Service.
The big yellow Agusta A109 seen flying across the sky on a daily basis is actually a state of the art flying helicopter emergency medical service, on its way to another critical life threatening incident, where speed of response can be the difference between life and death for an unsuspecting patient.
Funded entirely by voluntary contribution (we receive no Government or Lottery funding) our service can genuinely be described as the best and here is why:
The Agusta A109 is a state of the art helicopter that can cruise at speeds of 180mph, considerably faster than all other UK Air Ambulances, and can reach anywhere within the two counties in just 12 minutes maximum. On average we reach the patient in less than 8 minutes. Our helicopter has the lowest cabin vibration of all air ambulance machines, critical when it comes to transporting spinal or brain injured patients.
The larger cabin space of the helicopter allows a patient to be transported fully stretchered and accessible by the doctor and paramedic on board who can attend to the clinical needs of the patient whilst in transit (with most air ambulances the patient's lower body is situated in the hull and cannot be accessed).
We routinely carry a doctor on board. The London Air Ambulance and Great North are the only other ones in the UK to do so. We are also the busiest Air Ambulance in the UK having responded to over 3,400 calls since our launch in October 2003.
I hope you will agree that ours is a service to be proud of and I hope you will see your way to playing a part in our development. Join our members club, form a committee or group, stage a fundraising event or simply send a donation. Every penny counts.
This is the best Air Ambulance and all of our appreciation is given to the two Pilots, ten Paramedics, ten Doctors and a host of volunteers and supporters raising the £1.2 million each year. We all hope it will never be us in that critical need or that it is someone we know, but every day of every week of every year there is someone who does need us and for us to be there we need you.
